Jeroen Scheer, Alliander

Drs Jeroen (J.P.) Scheer, MScM, is the manager taskforce energy transition IT at Alliander NV, the Dutch leading energy grid company, which he joined in January 2011. His responsibilities include the direction and leadership of all energy transition information technology related solutions and investments within Alliander (The Netherlands, Germany), including applications, data, telecommunications, infrastructures, integration, and information risk management. Prior to his current role, Jeroen was the manager of IT strategy and architecture at Nuon Energy NV, which is a part of the Vattenfall Group AB, and has been active in the energy sector for more than 12 years, in several roles and within several energy companies in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland and Sweden. His main focus has always been the translation of market and business dynamics (e.g. liberalization, smart grids) in flexible and cost-effective technical deployments. Jeroen is one of the core leaders and architects managing the transition of the energy sector and the grid in a transition that brings one of mankind's most complex machines from the age of being a pure electromechanical entity (akin to a 1950's car motor) to the age of the computing and information control (akin to the modern computer controlled engine). As the chair of the extended ACCU workgroup, Advanced Metering Infrastructures (AMI) and Smart Energy Ecosystems (SEE), which consists of more than twenty-five large utilities and six leading vendors from all over the world, he has helped to establish major parts of the transitional roadmap. Jeroen supervises  the Dutch Committee on harmonization of information exchange within the Dutch energy market, and is an active lead-member of the EU Taskforce Metering and Demand.
